I teach Kindergarten in a low-income school district. Kindergarten is for many their first exposure to school. I do my best to make learning fun, hands-on, and relevant to them so they will have a good first impression of school and love it!

Kindergarten is not what it used to be. These children must learn to read and write to be able to move on to first grade. The best way to nurture their love for reading is to immerse them in rich literature. They need to be taking books home every night to read; books that interest them. Students are unable to bring home books from our leveled library due to the risk that they will not be returned. I can only send home books I have purchased with my own money. I do not have enough books for them.

This project will put books in the hands of my students! They will be able to borrow these books to practice their skills at home. The learning must carry over from school to home.

Your help will make a difference for the students who, sadly, have no books at home. You will be contributing to our future!
