Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 500 wonderful K-6th graders Art in urban Indiana. My students are always eager to come to Art and I would like to provide them with an artist library within my classroom.

Being an inner city school we have many students who do not have resources. In art class we explore many different art styles and artists. I would love for my students to have the opportunity to read about the wonderful artists while in my classroom. This would not only improve their ability to make art, but would also improve their reading skills. Reading ability is one of the areas my school is trying to develop across the curriculum.

I need a complete set of the books: Getting to Know the Worlds Greatest Artists. This would enable me to create an artist library in my classroom. Students would be able read and write about artists after finished with their artwork. This will improve their reading skills and comprehension as well as allow them to see a variety of artists.

Your help will allow my students to read the life stories of many famous artists. I currently have 3 books from this series and the students are always excited to read the books! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help my school create an artists library.
