We are one of a kind! I am honored to be a part of the administrative team as a school counselor. Our school is a secondary charter school for students with learning disabilities. Our students are all special needs and 85% of them come from impoverished homes. We have the most appreciative students around!

Since we are a charter school, our students do not have the opportunity to play sports through the school system. However, we were recently contacted by a private school coach that is involved in CYO (catholic youth organization) sports and has invited our students to be a part of their "league." Needless to say our kids were ecstatic! You have to understand, our kids feel they are no different than any other child, and in many ways they are right. But, on the same hand, they are very different in ways that do not show. The bottom line is they wanted to be treated like everyone else and one thing they have in common is sports.

I am requesting 2 footballs, 3 basketballs and 2 kick balls. In order for our students to participate they need to form a team and practice. The fact that we have no equipment and no monies to fund it is a major problem. They are so excited to do this and we want to make this dream come true!
