Our school wishes to enroll as many students in band as possible. Middle school students are so very excitable when they have the right opportunities to learn and experience music. However, the high-needs nature of our student population forces many students not to participate in band because of financial hardship.

Students have several items to rent and purchase in order to have the adequate materials for band class. Because of our school's band budget (or lack thereof), student must rent/buy their own instrument, buy their method book, buy their own uniforms, and, for woodwind players, buy their own reeds. Reeds are like the oil in your car, they must be changed out or else things will go wrong. Many students/families are communicating to me that $20 for a box of reeds is a major issue.

I would like to alleviate this problem by having an adequate supply of reeds for students that have hardships in their lives because they deserve a chance to become a great musician just like everyone else. Having quality equipment means that the sound will be high quality and the experience will be high quality.

You will be impacting dozens of band students in the very near future. They will gain the personal confidence achieved when making music as a group along with sharing that music with thousands of people over time.
