MORE "We are a diverse school with students from many different backgrounds. No matter what the challenges may be, the goal is the same: learning for all.
By implementing readers and writers workshop from kindergarten, out children have grown as readers and writers. By the time our students reached 2nd grade last year, their writing is beyond the current school curriculum. This lead our team to work with a writing consultant to rewrite the district curriculum. We incorporated a Patricia Polacco authors study to incorporate Polacco's books into our read aloud and also as a mentor text for writing craft lessons. By implementing this, each teacher needs to have a set of Patricia Polacco books, yet we currently have about 15 books we share among the grade level for 150 students.
In order to enable my students to continue to grow as readers and writers, I would love to be able to provide my class with a set of Patricia Polacco books that will show a wide range of comprehension skills for reading and show Polacco's craft as a writer. By supporting this project, you will ensure that my 2nd graders have a wide range of Polacco's books in order to unleash their writing and empower them to grow as readers. HIDE My students need a collection of Patricia Polacco books to use for an Authors As Mentors study in writing.
