Math mania not math mundane!! I am a high school algebra teacher seeking to encourage my students to strive for excellence.

Our school is located in a very rural community where funding and technology is hard to come by. I want to give my students the opportunity to experience education to the fullest. Math should be a present for my students -- a beginning to their future, not something that is stuck in the past with antique chalkboards and adding machines. My students need to experience the real world of technology in order to prepare them for college and their chosen profession.

The mimio interactive would allow the whiteboard in my classroom to become a hands on learning tool. Students would be able to come to the board and work with interactive websites that would allow them to be engaged in the learning process. Research proves that high levels of student engagement is necessary for student success in mathematics. Algebra tends to be a scary and difficult subject for my students to conquer. I want to help them succeed so that they will want to go on and take higher level math classes. It has been shown that taking challenging math classes in high school has a direct relationship with student success in college. The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics recognizes that technology is essential for learning. The mimio would be a valuable tool on our quest to make algebra an exciting successful stepping stone on the pathway to future careers.

You will make it possible for my students to have access to interactive technology that will engage them in the learning process. We have become a technology based world where often times the only time students don't use technology is in school. How sad. You can help provide us with the funding to bring algebra out of the dark ages and into the colorful present and future of our young people.
