Our extra-curricular team is focused on teaching high school students in a high-need community to learn about the design, construction, and development of real-world engineering by participating in the BEST Robotics competition. Supplies would be used to give these students full exposure to engineering methods they can use far beyond their high school years.
Our program is well beyond building an "arts and crafts" project. Our students have shown a specific interest in pursuing careers in engineering and other scientific fields. With our program, these students gain vital exposure to real world problem-solving techniques as well as an inside look at their potential careers in engineering.
The materials requested will allow our team to have direct exposure to engineering design methods currently used in today's professional community. Students will utilize high-end graphics and learn specific design methods to use in constructing a competition robot. Of course, the value of their exposure to these things will far outlast the date of the competition.
Your support will impact this year's team of over 40 high school students in a high-need community and an unlimited number of students in the future. These students will do much more than build a robot for competition -- they will learn to use real world engineering design and methodology, gain valuable insight into their desired career fields, and work as a team throughout it all. The lessons learned and the experience gained in our program will stay with these students for the rest of their lives.
