Livin' La Vida Loca! I am a Spanish Teacher for 7th-8th and 11th-12th graders. I teach at one of the middle schools and one of the high schools in my area. Out of the two middle schools in the area we have the highest percentage of free and reduced lunches. We have a growing percentage of Latino students as well. I have been trying to grow the Spanish program here for two years now. I have successfully added three more sections of Spanish by providing a positive teaching atmosphere as well as retaining most of my students for the following years. I have great parental support to continue growing this program.

In the ever-changing technological world it is important to stay abreast of technology. My students are able to run circles around me regarding technology. We have to beg, borrow, and steal projectors from the library, and other teachers. The projectors are rarely available to check out anymore because so many teachers are using them. We run into problems because a projector may not be available for a week or two sometimes. I create presentations of countries around the world and we "travel" to those countries by using pictures, videos, and other items from the internet. We get a chance to see the world without leaving the classroom! I also have the students create powerpoints and movies, but what good does that do if we cannot present them in a timely manner?

I've asked for a projector to access the online textbook technology as well as show presentations, powerpoints, movies, and other technology. I have also asked for a t.v. cart and a t.v. strap for our donated t.v. This will enable us to watch our burned movies, and to show the videos of countries around the world.
