This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Hi! I am a kindergarten teacher in Oklahoma. This is my second year teaching kindergarten. I teach in a high-need community. My students would love to be able to have their own individual space on a bright new rug.

For the past two years my students have been very snug on our rug. We spend most of our day sitting on the carpet for lessons, calendar, morning meeting, and music. I have three students that sit outside of our rug because there just isn’t enough room. My students are squished together and are often touching each other. I would love for each student to fit on my rug and to have their very own space!

I would really like to replace this small rug with a rug I found from Lakeshore. This rug is bright and there are 20 squares on it. There would be a spot for each student. The great thing about this rug is each square is numbered from 1 to 20. There are also bees making a circle around the rug. Each bee has a letter in it. My students would not only get there own square but also learn the letter or number that they are sitting on. The rug would be a much needed addition to our classroom.

Your help will make it possible for all my students to fit on the rug where we spend the majority of instruction time.I know that my students would be so excited!! They are always complaining that there is not enough room.
