Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Our school is an elementary campus of 1183 students from ages of Pre-K to 5th grade. We are a Title I campus. There are 85 Gifted and Talented students and we need materials to study art forms of various cultures to go along with our study of explorers of the seven continents and the Arctic Circle.

Through the use of different types of papers from the world over students can create a model sarcophagus and understand the rituals that accompanied the ancient Egyptian art of burial. When we study the continent of South America we will create a rain stick to demonstrate how they were used when Francisco Pizzaro entered the Incan lands.

We need papyrus paper to create painting of the ancient Gods and use the paint and special paper to paint hieroglyphics to create a model of King Tut's tomb. Students will then have a hands-on picture of how ancient life was lived.

Your help on this project will enable my students to teach other students here at our school how the explorers made such important finds that have affected our lives throughout history. They will be able to demonstrate how customs and cultures were created as they demonstrate to the rest of the school and parents during a student led museum tour showcasing their products.
