My 1st grade students are high-need students who come from low-income families and various cultural backgrounds.

Many of the students in our school do not have opportunities to ride tricycles or scooters at home and ,therefore, lack the gross motor skills and coordination that is developmentally appropriate for their age level. Their physical fitness level, or activity level is also inadequate for this age group.

After riding tricycles in kindergarten, the children in 1st grade need the opportunity to improve their motor skills on roller racers, which are scooters that require the child to engage both their arms and legs in order to get the momentum needed to make the scooter move.

Your donations to this project will make it possible for these kids to have more opportunities to develop their motor skills and increase the amount of exercise they get each day. The children will be thrilled at the opportunity to have fun while they race around the track on our playground.
