Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Language Arts classroom is a portal to different times, places and people. I teach high school English grades 9-12 at a very large, diverse school,so diverse that we actually have no classified majority. We also have the highest amount of SpEd, ESOL and Free and Reduced Lunch in our County and are only one of two high schools to offer a teen parent program with an in-school daycare.

Unfortunately, computer access is limited to our students. Most do not have computers at home and our building is older and can only support a limited number of computers. This means our students do not get the same access to technology as other students including SAT/ACT prep, SOL (our state test) prep and all the other learning opportunities.

An LCD projector would allow me to use only one computer and display the various web pages to all of my students during class. The computer access will not only improve their skills, but also engage them in learning.

Your support of this request is proof to my students that people do care about them and will do what is needed to ensure their success.
