Hands On Inquiry in 4th Grade Science

My students need materials for 4th grade standard on magnetism such as horseshoe magnets, bar magnets, and magnetic fields.

I teach science to 4th grade students in a low income, Title 1 school. My students have the desire and willingness to learn but lack some materials. They need to pass the state tests and this can be accomplished by hands on activities. Hands-on means their mind is on and they will stay interested in the subject matter and therefore learn. My job is to get them interested and what better way then to have the materials that they can actually touch and use when studying the topic.

Hands on inquiry means minds on and therefore students will be actively involved in class and learn more because they are engaged. My students would benefit greatly if they had a class set of magnets to use during the magnetism unit. If they had the magnets it would enhance the learning process. Our school is low performing school and is high poverty according to the rating in DonorsChoose.org. Please help us to become a high performing school by giving our students a chance to get ahead in Science. The country is trying to get math and science scores up and to get more girls involved in the field and what better way for this to take place in elementary school and you can help them to succeed in science and better our future.

My students need group sets of magnets (horseshoe magnets, bar magnets, etc.) and materials relating to magnetism such as the magnetic field demonstrator. They also need a comprehension activity set and activities they can complete using magnets.

Your donation will ensure that our class is meeting and exceeding expectations for 4th grade Science. Thank you in advance for supporting me in this endeavor. These magnets and magnetism field demonstrators will make an enormous difference in their learning process and make them excited in the learning process. Thank you again.
