"My Intensive Reading Kindergarten Class consists of high needs students, already far behind their peers, both socially and academically on the first day of school. My students need constant encouragement, nurturing, and praise.

Having a digital camera and printer in our classroom would make my students feel so special. They would be motivated in so many ways. I would be able to provide a welcoming, inviting environment by adding their photos to name tags around the classroom, on tables, cubbies, and on behavior, birthday, lost tooth, and student of the week charts.

We would make number books together, such as Playground Counting, using students on the playground; 1 boy on a swing, 2 girls on a slide, 3 children playing ball, etc. (adding their names would help them learn to read classmates' names--what a confidence builder!)

We could create an Alphabet book that would consist of students holding objects in ABC order; Aa-John eats an apple. Bb-Matt swings a bat., etc. What a natural motivator for learning the alphabet and early reading skill!

In addition to numerous classroom books, we would hang group pictures, make cards and ornaments for special occasions, create year end memory books, and send "special moment” photos home to families throughout the year. Your donation would truly make a difference in my students' first year of school. It would help create a welcoming classroom environment, providing encouragement and motivation towards a successful learning experience!

Thank you for considering my classroom proposal!
