Welcome to a classroom with an overhead projector as the most recent form of technology!
I am a high school special education teacher trying my best to provide my students with a quality education so they can get into college. I currently teach a junior and sophomore English class filled with students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs). All of the students in my classes are capable of going on to college with the appropriate resources. It is my desire to help them attain their goals of going to college after high school.
With most colleges being technology savvy, it's only fair to present materials for my students to learn in the same manner. Currently, our most beloved piece of technology is an overhead projector. The students tend to be unfocused copying the hand written notes on the overhead. The students would be more engaged if they were able to follow along with a catchy PowerPoint or video. Our classroom is just lacking the technology that the new digital learners look for to keep them engaged.
A LCD projector would allow me to use new forms of technology in my classes and lessons. It will also allow me to keep my sometimes unfocused students, focused and engaged. There are so many ways a LCD projector can be used in the classroom: videos, PowerPoint presentations, and doing current research. A LCD projector would allow my students to learn in a way that is fun and engaging. It would also allow me to keep up with technology that they are becoming so used to.
Your generosity would allow my students to be able to learn in the same manner in high school as they will be expected to learn in college. Through your help, a school full of students in need would be a little more technology friendly. Technology is so important in the learning process of all students. Please help me and my class become better digital learners.
