My students are very interested in writing like popular authors. I plan to do author's studies on some of their favorite authors. We will read several titles from each author and then complete research on that author. We will study why the author uses the words that they use and how we can incorporate them in our writing. We need several titles from Mercer Mayer, Syd Hoff, Jane O'Connor, and Maurice Sendak. These authors write quality literature that is able to be read by first grade students. They also have wonderful topics that first graders find very interesting! Your help will ensure that my students have a chance to read and listen to quality literature and learn how to write like "real" authors. HIDE My students need 30 books, by authors such as Maurice Sendak, Syd Hoff, Mercer Mayer, Eve Bunting, and Jane O'Connor.
