This Little Seed of Mine! I Want To Watch It Grow!

My students need a set of Watch-It-Grow Window Greenhouses, a Clear Growing Crystals Class Pack and a Classroom Greenhouse.

I teach kindergarten in a very low income area. Over 90% of my students receive free or reduced lunches. Many of my students live with grandparents, great grandparents as well as other extended family members.

Every year I teach an in depth unit on living things. This unit focuses on the different parts of the plant, how seeds grow, what seeds need to grow, and what would happen if you took one of the needs away. My students get the opportunity to plant individual seeds so that they can learn the responsibility for caring for a living thing. Also they LOVE being able to take home their plant and continuing to watch it grow. A class greenhouse will give them a place to grow their seeds. They truly take pride in growing something of their own as well as taking the responsibility of watering it and tending to its needs. As you know roots grow into the soil making it hard for my kindergarten students to fully understand the growing process. The individual watch-it-grow window greenhouses will help them to see the seed change right before their little eyes.

My students take great interest as well as pride in this unit. They get SO EXCITED to come to class to see the growth as well as changes that take place daily. My students really need a class greenhouse to place their growing seeds. This will also allow me the opportunity to discuss what a greenhouse is and how they work. I would also like the individual greenhouse windows because these will allow each student the chance to watch the transformation of a seed to plant. You can help my students to continue having the chance to learn about nature and how things grow. I can't wait to see their eyes and the excitement on their faces every time they go running over to the greenhouse or to the window to see how much their seeds have grown and changed.

Many of my students face many obstacles everyday. They don't always have the opportunity to just sit and watch the flowers grow. Many of my students don't even know how flowers grow or where they come from. With your help, I want to give them every chance I can to help ensure that they get the best learning experience that they deserve....not to mention having FUN at the same time! Thanks for your help.
