Imagine..... you are in 5th grade and still have trouble with basic addition. It's not your fault, it's just the way your brain works! I am Special Educator working with Special Education students, in a high need city school in Vermont.

With a push for full inclusion, it is necessary to help my students build confidence and independence in their learning to enable them to become active members of their learning community. Without a grasp of the most basic of math skills, these students find themselves defeated before they begin. These kids need opportunities to work on, and master the basics in a non threatening setting in order to transfer their new understanding to the larger classroom setting.

Math centers and "wrap ups" are just the tools to help these struggling learners. With these tools they will be provided with opportunities to work independently, at their level, to master their individual academic goals.

With your help, we together can provide these children with the tools necessary for them to overcome their personal challenges and make strides in the directions of being successful in school and independent in their learning.
