Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach eighth grade United States Studies in a high-need community. Most students are on free and reduced lunch and are surrounded by drugs, gangs, and other negative influences.

My students believe they are aware of their choices in life. What they don't know is how much opportunity awaits them in high school. The graduation rate for my school district is 44.4 percent. Something needs to be done to reach these students and keep them in school.

My 130 students a year need a reliable classroom printer that is equipped to support their needs. This printer will not only help them in my classroom but in all of their other classes as well. Students can create projects and assignments that will wow themselves and the community.

My students need a safe zone, a place to explore a safe Internet, a quiet place to study, and a role model to help them make good choices. My class can become a tutoring haven for them to create and print their masterpieces. Masterpieces that can be on display to motivate more students.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
