I teach first through fifth grade gifted students in rural NE Georgia. It is a challenge to push gifted students to their potential.

My students enjoy teaching others and what is even better, is that THEY are really the ones who are learning! When creating podcasts, students become experts on the topics of research. They have to know what they are talking about BEFORE they can create a podcast!

By creating podcasts, my gifted students can teach other students about the plants and geology of the nature trail located on our school grounds. My students will create podcasts using a digital camera, PC, and nature field guides that we currently have in our classroom. I am requesting 5 Sony Walkman MP3 players to view the podcasts. Students will listen to the podcasts while exploring the nature trail. My students cannot always act as tour guides on the trail and podcasts provide others students with a self-guided tour of the nature trail.

However, this is just the beginning of our podcasts! Students will learn how to create the podcasts with the nature trail being the first assignment. Then students will create additional podcasts as they research other topics. By donating to this grant and providing my students with the 5 Sony Walkman MP3 players, you will make it possible for my gifted students to work beyond their potential!
