Don't you just LOVE to get postcards through the mail. I am the school counselor at a rural elementary school. Many of our students are living below the poverty level and live in one parent households, with guardians, or foster families.

Many of the students at my school do not receive a "Happy Birthday" from anyone if it does not come from a school staff member, because of their living situations. I believe they would be thrilled to receive a postcard in the mail saying "Happy Birthday" with a note to come by the counselor's office to receive a prize (a pencil).

I will need "Happy Birthday" postcards to mail out to students on the week of their birthdays. How exciting will it be for them to receive a personalized postcard from someone who remembers their birthday!!!! On the postcard there will be an invitation for the student to come by the counselor's office to receive a prize, which will be a pencil, something every student always needs! I will need ink cartridges to print on the backs of the postcards the sentiments.... The blank postcards will come in handy when there is a time when a postcard needs to go home for other reasons, such as "You are cordially invited to an awards assembly where your child will receive an award".

Your help will ensure that my students realize that they are indeed loved and cared for by the counselor of their school. So many of our students do not receive the attention they need from home; we at school have to not only "teach" the students but also "raise" the students to be members of their community in which they can one day give back to...
