My students need 12 books to help them connect math and literacy. These include One Grain of Rice, A Gebra Named Al, The Toothpaste Millionaire, 57 Great Math Stories, Sir Cumference and the Great Knight of Angleland, and more.

Every year, I am somehow lucky enough to teach 120 of the absolute best 7th-graders in South Carolina! I am in a high-need community and serve all students: general education, ESOL, and Special Needs.

Unfortunately, the limited funds my district has were cut even further for the upcoming school year. I have my students "hooked" but really want to "reel them in!" On my salary, I simply can't afford to do that alone.

In an effort to add to my "math connections toolbox," I am in need of several books that will allow me to bring literacy into my math classroom in a fun and engaging way. I strive to show my students math is found everywhere, and adding a reading element to my curriculum will help me accomplish that.

With your help, my students will be able to experience the connections between math, reading, and the world around them. This is the path toward a true love of learning, which is something we all want our children to experience!
