My students need a Letter of the Day Pocket Chart, Alphabet Activity Wheel, Alphabet Sorting Kit, Alphabet Mystery Box, and Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs.
I teach a special education class for children with emotional and behavior disabilities. Two of the children in my classroom have autism. I teach children in grades kindergarten, first and second grade and these children come from very unstable home lives. The children in my classroom also have learning disabilities and speech and language disorders.
The children in my classroom have so many obstacles to overcome every day. They have emotional or behavior issues we help them to control as well as other disabilities. Most of the children in my classroom receive speech and language services, have learning disabilities and two of my kids are autistic. Academically, they lag behind their peers in the same grade level.
The children I am teaching next year have yet to master the identification and sounds of the alphabet. These children need hands-on activities and constant review to find mastery.
The Letter of the Day Pocket Chart will enhance our calendar time. We can practice the letter of the week with predictable activities daily. The chart remains posted throughout the week and the children will be able to refer to it while completing their daily work.
The Alphabet Sounds Teaching Tubs would be the perfect hands-on activity to accompany my alphabet letter activities. There 26 tubs, one for each letter of the alphabet, and each tub is filled with plastic letters and mini objects that start with that letter. These tubs will provide a tactile opportunity for my students to learn. The Alphabet Sorting Kits can be used in a center and provide my children with opportunities to practice their letters through sorting activities. The tactile letters will offer children another hands on opportunity to learn. They will be able to use their sense of touch to help them master their letters. The Alphabet Activity Wheel would be a fun way to practice the letters while playing a game with my students.
At this time I do not have materials to teach the alphabet to children who struggle to learn it. These materials would be a wonderful addition to my lessons and the children's success.
With your help I will be able to enhance my classroom instruction. Especially in these difficult economic times, my students and I rely upon the generosity of people like you to help us obtain materials we need in our classroom.
