Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach 25 great sixth grade students in a Chicago school just west of the lake. Many of my students have special needs and most of my students receive free lunch. They love to come to school so that they can prepare for their future.
We are pen pals with another school across town. It would be wonderful if we could meet our pen pals at the Chicago Symphony. My students and their pen pals would learn about the many different instruments that it takes to present a performance. Students may find an instrument that they want to play and pursue a music career.
Students will study about the different instruments that it takes to present a performance. We will write stories about the trip and share our stories with other classes to inspire them about orchestra music. They will write about the many different aspects of the symphony. Test scores will improve as we read and do research about the symphony.
You will make it possible for my students to experience the symphony. They will be able to see orchestra hall and view the beauty of this magnificent building. Students will see a live stage performance and become familiar with the instruments used in the orchestra.
I want this for my class and their pen pals so that they will learn about the symphony and the dynamic world of orchestral music.
