Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Teaching is such a rewarding job, and a way to unlock the doors of the future for each of my students. I am currently teaching first grade, and have been a teacher for 4 years. Our school is located in Nevada in a high-need community.

Everyday my students struggle with wondering if their parents will have a job tomorrow. I want to provide a classroom where they can escape the real world by reading a good book. In addition to the recent cuts to education, I do not want my students to suffer. They are our future and we need to help them as much as possible.

The books I requested are to help my students escape the every day life and to foster reading. By having reading logs my students will be able to record the books they read. Then they can reflect on the books they have read over the year. In addition I have request an camera for my students to take pictures with to capture all the moments of the year. Further more, we would like an ipod to store our music, videos, and stories that we use on a daily basis.

By supporting our classroom you will make it possible for my students to dream big. You will show them that even though their our problems in our world today their are people out who care about their education.
