Help us become better writers. I teach 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th English; and I also teach 7th and 8th grade reading. We are an extremely small school where pre-school through Seniors are in the same building, so there is not a lot of money for each classroom.

In 8th grade we do projects over famous people, anyone that the students choose. The biggest problem is without books to look in we use primarily the Internet, where there is a lot of information that is not factual and some inappropriate articles. We also run into the problem of there not being enough computers for everyone to do all their research. With books we would be able to get more done, faster, and have factual information.

The resources that are needed are the books, so students can better research famous people. This is also something that I can use in my reading classes for students to read and take tests over. These books can also be used for students to have a better understanding of the past, and can, and will be used for Social Studies research. These are books that most students find interesting and like to read.

Getting these books would make a world of difference in the learning for these students. The books would make the factual information available and help students learn more about their heroes. The books will help the students better understand what makes each person famous, and what is fact and fiction about each person. This makes it easier to shift the time spent to teaching about writing, from helping sift through fact/non-fact information.
