I teach second grade and a low income, high mobility school. My students don't have a lot of access to technology or to outside experience so we try our hardest to provide these experiences for them.

There are three of us who teach second grade. We shared a laptop between the three of us. We used it along with and LCD camera to show them images and information that reinforced or supplemented what are teaching in the classroom. For example, when we teach the Solar System and how the Earth revolves around the Sun to create day and night for us I would go to a website that show an actual satellite picture of the Earth. My students were able to see this at a group and we could discuss it. We also took virtual field trips to places such as the desert when we study the different habitats of different animals.

We really need a replacement for the notebook computer that finally gave in to old age. The students are missing a vital opportunity that I know they need. They need to know of the world around them that they themselves can not experience at home due to lack of funds.

Your donation will ensure that my students and my future students will get the knowledge they need! Your support will make it possible for me to do my enriching lessons and for my students to learn more about the world about them.
