I teach 3rd graders of a variety of abilities, needs, and economic and cultural backgrounds.

Many of my students come to class with a limited amount of background information and/or experiences. I need to provide opportunities to create "hooks" in their brains for future knowledge to grab onto.

I would like to expand on our rock unit in science by demonstrating to them how a volcano erupts. This will allow me to help them understand the dynamics of our earth.

Your donation will allow my students to comprehend how the earth is ever changing and recognize what is constantly bubbling under Mt. St. Helen and other active volcanoes on the earth. Hopefully, some students will be inspired to pursue careers in geology or other earth sciences. Our environment is in need of our help from all generations and we need to plant the seeds for these careers when the children are young.
