I teach 3rd graders with a wide range of abilities, needs, and economic and cultural backgrounds.

Many of my students have very limited background information based on wide ranges of experiences. Most of their knowledge comes from what they read or are told.

I would like to provide them the opportunity to expand their science curriculum of studying the life cycle of plants to creating a life experience of actually growing edible plants. Hopefully by having the class grow some basic vegetables and then having a class salad party, students will incorporate this experience into a life style of healthy eating by growing potted vegetables at home.

Your donation will help students learn how to eat healthier, enjoy good food, and provide the basis for a life style change in eating habits which will hopefully help combat obesity in our nation.
