I am a busy speech therapist working with 53 preschool through sixth grade students who have a variety of speech and language difficulties.

What's that? I am often asked that very question when I pull out my old cassette recorder. I am down to one 'useful' cassette tape. I use the recorder often and with many of my students. It is used to record language samples of language disabled and dysfluent students. The cassette recorder is also used as a tool to record and playback a student's speech sounds during drill and practice therapy, while retelling stories, and while practicing speeches so each student can listen to him/herself. I used to record and send home speech therapy sessions, but that has stopped due to my parents not owning cassette recorders anymore!

What my classroom needs is to retire the cassette recorder and to 'upgrade' to a digital voice recorder that has MP3 capabilities.

Having a digital voice recorder for my classroom will allow me to utilize another tool to improve self-monitoring skills of my articulation, dysfluent, and language delayed students. In addition, I will have the capabilities to plug the digital voice recorder into the USB drive and share therapy sessions with parents either through email or burning a CD! It's a win-win situation for speech therapist, students, and parents!
