Now I know my ABC's. I am a Kindergarten teacher. I teach in a Title I school. At least 35% of our children are free or reduced lunch.

In our community there is a growing trend. Each year fewer of the students entering Kindergarten have had exposure to the alphabet. Many do not even know the ABC song. Each year fewer of our students have attended a preschool.

My students need several alphabet manipulatives to help them attain this knowledge. The resources I have requested will allow me to expose the children to the alphabet through many different learning styles. The items will be presented to the whole class and then they will be placed at learning centers where they will explore the alphabet daily. They will also be used as intervention tools.

Your help will ensure that my students will learn the alphabet in a more efficient and meaningful manner. They will have many opportunities to enjoy learning the alphabet. This will enable them to move on to our reading goals.
