Second graders thirst for more knowledge, thrive on the unknown, and beg for scholastic challenges. In a community filled with every type of family from low income households to high achieving professionals, we all have one thing in common. These kids LOVE to learn and achieve beyond the curriculum standards.

Although we have access to 3-dimensional animation software, my students are unable to use it because of the lack of microphones at our school. All other technology is in place to utilize this advanced learning tool. My 7 and 8 year old students are extremely excited about the opportunity to expand their learning beyond the horizon, but they are restricted from doing so because of the lack of microphones in our school.

If we could obtain 10 microphones for our school, hundreds of students would have access to movie making software, voice recognition technology, and a face puppet animation studio called, "Crazy Talk." Once this piece of technology is in place, lessons can move beyond the classroom walls. Imagine researching Abraham Lincoln and then have him give the biographical speech you have written for him. Imagine having a California Gray Whale discuss the details of a long journey from the cold Alaskan waters to the warm Baja inlets to give birth to their young. The project ideas are spilling out of the students, and they are anxious to realize their potential.

With your help, you will ensure that all of my students as well as their classmates at our K-6 school will have an outlet for their creativity that is straining to go outside their classroom walls thus catapulting them above and beyond the standard textbook based curriculum.
