A Sponge Is An Animal?

My students need a DVD about sponges, a varied collection of microscope slides and storage boxes for a sponge and cnidarian lab.

I teach biology at a brand new high school in Kentucky. We were added due to overcrowding at the other three high schools in the district. We literally are starting from scratch. The district does not have money to buy the non-essentials, due to budget cuts at the state level. Without outside donations, our students have to go without items that will enrich their education.

To properly learn biology, students need to interact with what they are learning. I want to make biology a class that students look forward to. Experiments, specimens, and microscope study are essential to mastering concepts. Most of my students cannot learn without seeing what is being taught.

I am requesting the basic necessities to have a hands-on lab reinforcing concepts taught in the sponge and cnidarian unit for my students. The various microscope slides are important to see the structures that make these organisms truly unique. The storage boxes will protect the slides for future classes. The video will add to the experience by allowing my students to see these creatures in their natural environment.
