My students need math classroom jeopardy with Pre-Algebra cartridge to help incorporate Graduation Exam skills and instill life long learning skills needed to become functional, productive individuals in society.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My goal is to making math come alive in the classroom. I am an 8th grade PreAlgebra teacher in a large, urban city. 98% of my students receive free or reduced lunch and come from single-parent homes. I have 30 students, 5 of which require modifications or accommodations from resource teachers.
At my school, we have a class set of textbooks in the classroom because we do not have enough to issue to each student. The math teachers at my school share calculators, overhead projector, and textbooks in order to allow each student to have a specific amount of time to utilize the material. If another teacher is using the materials, we go on to another activity until she is finished. I have found that each year of teaching requires me to evolve and grow professionally when it comes to teaching my students. I introduce my students to an activity first as an ice breaker and then I proceed to teach them the lesson. My students learn better when they are given the opportunity for hands-on learning.
I need Math Jeopardy to inspire my students to want to learn and not to be afraid of math because it is all about solving problems in life and in math. I need the software and cartridges to instill standards and objectives necessary to help my students to receive High School Graduation Exam tutorial.
You will making a difference in my students' life by allowing them to receive technology they are not exposed to at home. I want to empower them to strive for excellence and to never give up. This classroom jeopardy is a way to help students review those skills need in math and in life.
