Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In pre-K learning letter sounds, letter names and how to write our names are very important activities in our daily routine. Do you like to be part of this project? Pre-K is the foundation for a successful academic life and I would like to build this basis as strong as they will need it. My students are learning to identify letters, clap syllables, count how many syllables are in a word, read and write not only theirs names but also their friend's names and words. My goal is to help my students to become successful readers and writers and with your help we will make it.
I am a Bilingual Pre-kindergarten teacher. I teach an energetic classroom full of 32 young children. My students come from low income families. Most of my students do not receive any support from home because parents are so busy working. It is just school, the place where they learn and have the opportunity to discover and develop skills.
My goal is to help expose my students to letter sounds, letter names, match letters to sounds, blend sounds into words and separate a word into its sounds, so they can hear sounds and try to write words. As a Prekindergarten teacher, I strive to provide my students with the foundation that they need to become successful readers and writers. In my school there are 2 more pre-K teachers one monolingual and other bilingual with the same schedule of mine therefore, sometimes is very difficult to share the materials. Another thing is that there is not much money available to get all the resources I would like to have in my classroom for my students.
I would like to have a variety of materials for my students to work and learn with. I would like to have 15 different activities that will support my whole and small group instruction. I would like to have an alphabet puzzle to help my students identify the letters, find alphabet shells students will reinforce letter names and copy words, The dough letters cutters will develop their fine motor skills and will promote letter recognition and the alphabet maze and the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom activity will reinforce ABC order. I would like to have alphabet charms to give each student letters that they are struggling with and hopscotch carpet numbers/syllable set to count letters in high frequency words, and count how many syllables are in words and names, the ladybugs game students will match uppercase and lowercase letters, the ducks/bees alphabet box will help the students to match uppercase and lowercase and establish sound and symbol correspondence, with the wheel alphabet students will think in words that start with specific letter and make its sound, also it will help students to develop their vocabulary when they use the cards.
I would like to have these materials because they will provide many opportunities for my students to make discoveries about how words work and to engage in language activities that are purposeful and playful. With your help my students will get the tools that they need to become successful readers and writers. Please help me to teach, reinforce the writing and reading skills that my students need in order to be successful in life. Thank You for being part of this project!
