I get to teach an energetic group of first grade students each and every day! Not many of my students have access to technology at home, so we make heavy use of it at school.

As our district looks for ways to keep up with everyday expenses, the classroom teacher is looking for ways to keep his/her students engaged. Technology is definitely a way to do this!

One of the basic beliefs of my classroom is that we all learn best helping each other and from each other. We love to read poems and chants as one big group. Having a document camera would allow me to turn any text into a large chart for the whole class to read together. Additionally, it would enable us to look at each other's writing and use that as a focus for discussion. A document camera helps as a magnifying glass when looking at specimens in science, and can be a place for students to come demonstrate math strategies and concepts.

Your help will reinforce how important community is--by enabling us to have a document camera to use as a communication tool in our class and by showing these children that people understand and value what they do each day.
