Have you ever wondered how a 6th grader can stop a third grader from getting bullied when they don't even go to the same school or ride the same bus? Well, in my Language Arts and reading classes with 101 extremely creative, technologically advanced, and very unique students, that is something we are trying to figure out.

One of our units deals with bullying and this year some students came up with a great way to really show an understanding of what they learned and to also help others. They wanted to create a "How to deal with bullying video" for the elementary schools in our district. In order to do this, we decided to split students into groups. Each group was responsible for creating a skit on a different type of bullying and how to handle it. But we ran into a major obstacle. The cameras the school has can not transfer the video onto the computers to edit it. So after filming the skits, we had no way of putting them together to make a video.

In order to really make this a great project that could help other students we need a couple of things. First we need two Flip Video cameras that can hook directly up to a USB drive and transfer the video onto the computer. Then we need a digital voice recorder to help us make podcasts to broadcast our message on the district website.

By helping to fund this project you will be helping to make sure my students can help younger students deal with bullies and maybe even deter someone from being a bully. So not only will you be helping 6th grade students with this project, but you will also be helping kids throughout our district.
