Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach second grade in a Title I school that has over 80% free and reduced lunch. The budget cuts for this upcoming school year have been devastating.

We have had to cut the position of the science teacher and our science lab from the curriculum. One of the very noticeable deficiencies that our students have is their knowledge of science vocabulary and concepts.

The Magic School Bus is a book series that teaches scientific concepts to children through fanciful field trips that the main character Ms. Frizzle takes with her class. They all board a "magic" school bus that shrinks and delivers them to places like the human body, a beehive, or the moon.

You donation will help make science more appealing to my students. It will also help make it more accessible now that we have to be creative in finding a variety of ways to make up for the loss of our science lab.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
