Give some GOO, and we'll spell "THANK YOU!" Hello! I am a proud art teacher of grades 7 through 12 at public high school in rural WI. Our high school currently has about 300 students with a wide range of needs. My high school classes include a range of ages, from 9th through 12th grade.

Creative projects are difficult to fund, but this one SPELLS "AWESOME!" Sculpture is an art form that doesn't get a lot of credit or opportunity, especially in our schools, mostly because materials are expensive. What a great opportunity it would be to have my high school artists create amazing life casts of their hands while making lasting educational sculptures for the elementary library!

Plaster hands to form the letters of the sign language alphabet in the elementary school library! Collaboration between the high school and elementary school at its best, as the high school 3-D classes make exact life casts of their hands. Each student will have his/her assigned letter to mold, using sign language. They use the mold gel substance to cast their entire hands as well as forming a base to support the form. The plaster will then be used to fill the mold, thus creating the perfect hand sculpture. Students will then paint and patina their hands to further enhance the hand forms. High School students will learn the art of creating life casts as sculpture, and they will be so excited to donate these sculptures to the young students. Elementary students will enjoy seeing the creative eye-catching sculptures, as they learn the art of sign language!
