"We are a high needs, college preparatory school, teaching at risk youth in an urban area. Our school is a small charter school, focusing on five values that emphasize the need for academic excellence and respect for self and community. I teach high school art and film.

I am teaching students about how to make art and fashion out of recycled materials. They have fantastic, exciting ideas! However, we need some tools to help make their creations a reality. We plan on having a "Trash in Fashion" show event at our school.

We would like to have a dress form because students are having some difficulty making clothes without one. We also need some sewing equipment. We have a sewing machine that has been donated to us, but also need some basic sewing supplies like needles, pins and thread.

This project is very important because my students are learning about the "cool" factor in reusing and recycling. They are also strengthening their creative problem solving skills and building on their resourcefulness. Having a school-wide fashion show will help us to create a stronger community by celebrating their work and by having fun together!

My students need 12 items such as a dress form, a clothes iron, tape measure, pins, needles, thread, and bobbins. The cost of this proposal is $371, which includes shipping for any materials requested and fulfillment ?."
