Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This year I've had the privilege of starting a video production course at my school. I teach a film production class, where my students create short movies to showcase at a school wide film festival. Our school has never done anything like this before because we're a Title one school, so extra curricular programs are scarce. Almost all the students that attend LEAD academy are low income students and don't have access to technology. The film program has really changed the culture of our school, and my students want to take it to the next level.

The situation is, our school has provided us with cameras and computers to edit our movies. However, we don't have any lighting equipment. This really limits the students in many ways. They want to learn how to use lighting equipment to make their movies look more like professional footage.

We need a Lowel lighting kit so I can teach the students how to properly light their movies. This kit will benefit students tremendously. Many colleges offer media communications programs, and if students from LEAD decide to study that subject, they will be way ahead of the curve. Also, because my students are from low income communities, they have very limited opportunities to explore alternative subjects outside of math and science. This light kit will provide my students with real life hands on learning.

I would like to ask you all to please consider funding this project. Video is the language of these student's generation, and they need the opportunity to speak. This lighting kit will empower students creativity and spirit, not to mention their education. Please consider donating to this worthy cause.
