My high school French students are, without a doubt, hands-on, inquisitive, and technologically savvy learners!

Yet, whereas their Spanish studying friends have access to Spanish-language television, books, newspapers, and radio stations at their everyday disposal, my students do not have ready access to such French exposure. In addition, because money often precludes their ability to have Internet access at home, access to the French language via iTunes or streamed online radio is not an option for the majority of my students.

With a classroom set of iPods (on which I can upload French news broadcasts, French radio podcasts, French music, French music videos etc), my students will have the exposure to the French language and culture that they crave through a medium (iPods) that they already know and love.

With the rise of globalization, the need for globally competent and competitive students is undeniable. With access to a classroom set of iPods, my students would, with your help, be able to work to become more linguistically, culturally, and technologically competitive. As Ludwig Wittgenstein proclaimed, "The limits of my language mean the limits of my world." I do not want a lack of access to technology to preclude my students' access to the opportunities that the world has to offer them. Thank you for thinking of us!
