Rebounders Rock!

My grade 3 students need an Urban Rebounder (mini-trampoline) to build stamina, strength, balance, and heart health.

As a small, poor school, we wrestle with various societal challenges germane to inner-city urban areas. Like many former rust-belt communities with declining industrial tax bases, many of our families and students are deeply impacted by poverty. Seventy-eight percent (78%) of our student population qualifies for free or reduced price lunches. For many, their free school lunch is their only meal of the day, yet obesity rates are climbing dramatically. Many root causes (economic, genetic and social) exist for our health and fitness deficiencies. Our families struggle to put a meal on the table or to purchase a winter coat for their children; for them sports equipment and high-cost nutrient-dense foods are luxuries. Parents choose inexpensive fast food. We want to help kids keep fit.

We want to improve the health of our children by enabling them to rotate through a rebounder fitness center, to promote lifelong, healthy behaviors for our at-risk students to grow physically and emotionally. The Urban Rebounder will provide the equipment for a fun and engaging fitness activity for Grade 3 children.

Our children could rotate through mini-trampoline rhythm and dance sessions to become more active and increase strength and endurance. Through rebounding, our students will improve stamina, joy and coordination through rhythmic Rebounding, Counting and Dance routines. Deeply deficient in equipment for health and wellness education, the initial purchase of an Urban Rebounder will bring enthusiasm for physical activity and exercise.

Imagine the giggles as impoverished kids jump up and down to music for fun and fitness! If you can help us to purchase one Urban Rebounder mini-trampoline, we can create a fitness station. In equitable rotation, our kids could jump through dance sessions measuring the Urban Rebounder with music. Rebounders exercise sessions will help us to curb the growing prevalence of weight problems and poor nutrition in our high-poverty students. With your help, we will add a physical education rebounding component to fight obesity and engage young learners in high-energy and fun physical activity.
