Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a special education teacher in California. I have students with mild to moderate disabilities. My students need to pass the CA High School Exit Exam, take a computer class, and meet all the same requirements of the general education students. We are in a school that has many students that get free and reduced lunch. I am trying to give my students all opportunities to access the curriculum, but with budget cuts it can be difficult.

I have a computer lab that I have be trying to make accessible for all special education students at our school. I finally got approval to get Microsoft Office in my lab, and I am waiting to receive it. I need to make my lab fully functional to better serve the students and their needs in general education classes and special education classes.

I need a printer because the printer we had does not work. Many of our students have projects that need to be done, and we do not have the resources. Also, I need to help students with their computer class, and some of the sites have tutorials that could disturb the other students. If the students have head phones, they could do their work without disturbing others. Lastly, I need a sharpener that works. The one in my class just eats pencils.

Your help will ensure that my students will be able to access the tools they need to be successful in their classes. Many of my students are unable to afford computers, so your help will allow them to be able to compete with all the other students.
