The motivated students in my Communications Classes have taken on the responsibility of creating the school's newspaper and yearbook. We are a small school in a lower-income, rural area, but the students here have already taken ownership of this project, and are producing impressive results.

Yet we are somewhat bound by our tax base. The school can't afford to purchase AP Stylebooks (reference texts to help the students improve their grammatical accuracy) for this newly created class. The school will not pay for reporter's notebooks so students can conduct interviews as professional student-journalists. And we lack a reliable scanner to include student-created artwork in the newspaper or yearbook.

Your contribution will go a long way toward helping us improve both the newspaper and yearbook. The effects for the students involved will be immediate. But perhaps more importantly, the effects for the entire school will be a greater connection to their community (through an active student press) and a greater standard of quality for writing and publishing.

When these students page through their yearbooks 50 years from now, they won't necessarily know about your generosity. But they will see a quality product - and whether they know it or not, they'll have you to thank.
