Move Heaven and Earth

My students need one celestial globe.

There are few subjects that get fourth grade students as excited about learning as Space does. My students are utterly fascinated by the solar system. They can't get enough! As interested as they are, however, my students have great difficulty understanding planetary movement and Earth's relationship to the sun and other stars. It is very difficult to gain a true understanding of our complex universe from the 2D graphics in textbooks. In order to help my students better understand and visualize our planet's role and orbit in the universe, I am requesting a celestial globe. A celestial globe is a transparent star globe that demonstrates Earth-star relationships as they undergo temporal and spatial changes. It includes an adjustable sun and geophysical Earth that can be manipulated and set in various positions to help students understand what causes seasons and provides a flawless and accurate visual of the Earth rotating on its axis. Your donation will make a tremendous impact in the lives of my students, as you provide a tool that will make our solar system unit more meaningful. Thank you for your consideration of this project.
