Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach 2nd grade to an amazing group of low-income students in California. Though almost 90% of the students at our school receive free or reduced-priced lunch, they are showing amazing growth and working very hard to learn each day. Last year, our school was excited to learn that we had some of the largest academic gains of any elementary school in the entire school district.

One of the most important concepts for children to master in elementary school is money. We constantly use worksheets with money problems, but the worksheets are still just worksheets. We need hands on activities so students can literally get their hands on money.

The magnetic money, money bingo, money puzzle, money flashcards, and money board game that I am asking for will allow all of my students to manipulate money in a variety of different ways. These activities will go a long way in ensuring that my students leave 2nd grade with a complete, thorough understanding of money.

Thank you so much for considering this - my entire classroom of second graders and I thank you! This will truly revolutionize and revitalize our learning. We look forward to sending you pictures and thank you notes.
