My students need 40 Dr. Seuss books for his birthday celebration and an author study we do each year. They need 40 to read twice a day to complete an author study for one month.

I teach full-day kindergarten. Since it is the full day, everyday program, students in this class are in need of strong and consistent academics. Students are among the middle and lower ranked of the entire kindergarten. We are located at a Title I school with a rapidly growing community.

My students LOVE to read. Many of them do not have books at home and most have working parents who do not have time to take them to the library, or are working when it is open. We study an author each month and my students have really developed a love of Dr. Seuss. They enjoy his silly stories and fun rhymes. We recently celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday. The students cooked and ate Green Eggs and Ham and read few Dr. Seuss books. I am a second year teacher and have a very small library. I get most of my books from the public library or school library. During this time, most of these books are in high demand and unavailable for when I need them.

I want to start my own library so I can give the children as many books as I can that they are interested in. They love to read and are so excited when they have a book that they can accomplish. Dr Seuss makes that easy for the students with his fun stories and rhyming language. I would like to have these books to entice the kids with how fun reading can be!!

You will make a difference in 21 children's lives. You will create a venue for them to put their enthusiasm of reading into. It is so important to foster the love of reading at this age. My students have found something they really enjoy. Please help me to give them a library they can always use!
