My students need a digital camera to take photos to enhance our student newspaper.

I am the media specialist and teach information skills to each child in a school of over 600 K-5th grade students. I am often involved with extracurricular activities. Last year I began a school newspaper which supports our school's Multiple Intelligences approach to learning. Newspaper kids sharpen many skills - linguistic, interpersonal, and linguistic chief among them.

A camera on hand would allow our newspaper kids to showcase the content of their articles through their own photography.

Class trips, interviews with new teachers/students, reviews of local restaurants are examples of article subjects that would have extra "pop" with an attached photo.

Your interest in this budding, ongoing newspaper would put a means for graphic communication in the hands of members of a young generation that has been weaned on the power of photography. A camera that is ready and waiting for the news "scoop" would be a wonderful tool for our kids.
