Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Our 9th grade sociology classroom is in a high needs NJ public school district and serves urban honors children of mixed racial backgrounds.

Our Sociology classes spend a great deal of time doing research and developing awareness days and health alert presentations. Our obstacle is the fact we are limited to wherever their is a TV for our multimedia student created presentations about health awareness, charitable causes, and general community updates and events. Our sociology classes have taken a hands on approach to social well being and promotion of awareness. The projector would give more freedom to our students in where and how the present material.

Our hope is to become more mobile through the use of a projector that would allow us to move freely throughout the building and use larger spaces to reach larger audiences.

Our students love what they create and they love helping people, help us show it more efficiently and bring the maximum awareness to our school and community. So far they have sponsored toy drives during the holiday season, health awareness about diabetes and obesity, promoted racial unity during Hispanic heritage, Black history, and now women's history months. A projector would give them more flexibility and mobility to reach larger groups.
